Goodness Glacius!

Give credit to those who handle PR for the Global Warming frenzy: they changed the label to “climate change” just in time.

Now it appears that we are heading for a calamitous ice age, which is an old theory if you remember as far back as 1978, but the environmental movement is always open to recylcing.

The newest global warming deniers will surely be drummed out of the scientific community, right? Wrong. The new study is published in the journal Nature, and the authors are astute enough to continue to blame the problem on us. According to the Daily Mail:

Most of Scotland, Northern Ireland and England could be covered in 3,000ft-thick ice fields. The expanses could reach 6,000ft from Aberdeen to Kent – towering above Ben Nevis, Britain’s tallest mountain. And what’s more, the experts blame the global change on falling – rather than climbing – levels of greenhouse gases.

As long as we’re the problem, then more draconian regulatory schemes can continue to be piled one on top of the other.

Lead author Thomas Crowley from the University of Edinburgh and Canadian colleague William Hyde say that currently vilified greenhouse gases – such as carbon dioxide – could actually be the key to averting the chill.

You see, all we need is a new strategy! So does Crowley advocate a change of policy? No.

Professor Crowley said the stark findings do not mean we should stop fighting warming.

Huh? We should continue to fight warming and speed up the accumulation of ice that Crowley predicts will be our doom?

Yes, that seems to be the answer, and I expect all big-government environmentalists to cheer in unison. One set of regulations will keep us from getting too cold and another will keep us from getting too hot. And, wonder of wonders, the government will make the temperature juuuust right.

Sane people will question whether the world needs the economic upheaval these regulations will cause – all to mollify the climate change crowd that is certain about everything except whether temperatures will rise or fall.

But sane people are not in charge. So expect a set of international treaties and regulations to fight global cooling on top of the regulations to fight global warming. Comply with both, or else.
